Fun, Educational Activities
For Parents And Children
Children who receive lots of positive attention from the adults in their
lives are more likely to develop a clear system of values and live a
productive and satisfying life. Take a break from homework, housework, or
wasting time and have some fun together! (There will be learning, too!)
Make Something-Apple Treats

6 apples
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

¼ cup margarine (4 tablespoons)
1/3 cup sugar
¼ cup flour
½ cup quick oatmeal, uncooked
1 bread heel, chopped fine
½ cup nuts, chopped coarsely
non-stick cooking spray

over the apples and toss to coat. (Lemon juice
will prevent the apples from turning brown.)
- Mix together sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and
add to apples. Mix again.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Combine margarine, sugar and flour in a mixing
bowl. Cut margarine into sugar and flour until
mixture is crumbly.
- Add oatmeal, bread and nuts and mix thoroughly.
- Spray a 10x10 baking dish with non-stick cooking
spray. Pour in apples. Spoon topping evenly
over the apples.
- Place in hot oven and bake until topping is
brown (approximately 20 minutes).

2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
1 pinch cloves (optional)

- Melt caramels in a saucepan along with water
over medium-low heat, stirring constantly.
- Add chocolate chips and cloves if desired

in melted caramel. Tilt the pan and use a spoon
to completely cover apples. Place on aluminum
foil that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking
spray.

2 cups unsweetened apple cider
¼ cup orange juice
1 tablespoon honey
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon cloves
