Help Wanted – Write A Creative Want Ad

Choose an occupation and write a want ad to fill the position.  Use of irony and humor can deepen this activity.

 Here is my example:

HELP WANTED—TEACHER

Requirements--must have a brain the size of a watermelon, patience deeper than the ocean and a look that can melt steel.  Hours—dawn until dusk and infiltration into your dreams.  Pay—Oh, don’t worry about that, think of the good you will be doing!

Conflict - Confrontation

Confrontations can be either violent or non-violent.  Violent confrontations involve threats and intimidations and can lead to physical exchanges.  Non-violent confrontations focus on problem solving and are the way to find win/win situations.

Let’s look at some of the aspects of non-violent confrontations.

  • Discussing feelings
  • Listening to another person’s point of view
  • Understanding that people don’t always agree on everything
  • Looking for creative solutions
  • Weighing different possible outcomes
  • Decision making

Effective problem-solving skills get better with practice!

This family used these steps to solve their problem.
