Play A Word Game - Short,
Long, Schwa
This is a game of vowel sounds. Player one
starts with the letter 'a' naming a word that contains that letter and is
pronounced with the short vowel sound.
Player two must name a word that uses the letter 'a'
and has a long vowel sound.
Player three must think of a word containing the
letter 'a' in which the 'a' is pronounced with the schwa sound of 'uh'.
- banana (the first 'a' has the schwa sound)
Player four names a word that has the short letter 'e'
sound.
Continue through to the letter 'u' then start with the
letter 'a' again finding different words to express the vowel sounds.
If your group number is divisible by 3, skip player one on the next round so
each player gets a different vowel sound to exemplify.
Schwa
