Grocery Shopping List for Ben's Cheesy Pretzels

Ben's Cheesy Pretzels

From kitchen to table in 45 minutes.

1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons softened butter
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2/3 cup milk
2 tablespoons flour
1 egg
3 tablespoons coarse salt (optional)

What's For Dinner?

Directions

  1. Place flour, baking powder and sugar in a mixing bowl and toss with a fork to mix.
  2. Cut butter into dry ingredients until pebbly and then stir in cheese. Add milk and stir gently with a wooden spoon to make a soft dough.
  3. Sprinkle flour onto a bread board or other clean, flat surface. Place ball of dough onto flour, turn and knead 10 times. Divide into 16 pieces.
  4. Turn oven on to 400 degrees.
  5. On floured surface (add more flour if necessary) roll each segment of dough into a 12 inch rope. Twist into pretzels and place on a baking sheet that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
  6. Beat egg until foamy. Spread evenly over each pretzel. Sprinkle with coarse ground salt if desired.
  7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
